While Waiting For a Deer

While Waiting For a Deer

Do you remember being eighteen? If not, because you haven’t hit the number yet, can you imagine being eighteen? Take it from me, at that age you never think you’re being reckless. You say you’re just livin’ in the moment–goin’ with the feeling. You feel something in your bones, something you haven’t felt before. The good news is, it just might be the real deal.

I’m Kelsy Stanford. I was a senior. Me and this cool guy, we ditched our high school field trip and got lost in the woods…on purpose. I thought he was hot at the time. His father was the foreign ambassador from Norway. We were just lockin’ lips when it happened. Crazy huh? When you’re eighteen, if it feels good…you do it, right? You go with your emotions, maybe even when you shouldn’t.

I can’t tell you what happened next. You wouldn’t believe me if I did. If you feel like it, read all about it in Len Koepsell’s Waiting for a Deer, in Len’s ORIGINAL CONTENT, Seven Short Stories for Movie Mavens, Volume 2. If you live in or near Minnesota’s Twin Cities, cuz like that’s where it all happened, go to Barnes and Noble and grab a copy. Or if you’re farther away, nowhere near deer country, order one online.

Now I say…some kisses matter more than others–and those kisses are the ones worth waiting for.
